Launch Party for SHARED – Tauranga’s Newest Co-working Offices and Workspaces

NEWS

Shared Workspaces (SHARED) will be celebrating at their Launch Party on Thursday 5th November at the Smart Business Centre, 65 Chapel Street in Tauranga.

SHARED welcomes visitors to drop in and view the available workspaces; envision the new offices under construction and discover more about future SHARED developments.

More businesses in Tauranga are exploring viable alternatives to the traditional office. Cooperative working hubs aren’t a new concept, but the impact of Covid19 altering our work patterns has accelerated demands for more local, flexible and cooperative services.

Shared Workspaces provide varying options to businesses upsizing/downsizing; start-ups; corporates providing remote employees with an office; organisations requiring a fixed address; and individuals who are more productive within an office environment.

“Shared Workspaces offers a complete range of working spaces from office suites, full/part time desks through to casual spaces. Our main priority is to provide flexible options from informal membership’s right through to fixed office spaces that can be designed by the occupying company. Shared meeting, training and board rooms are available for hire to help Members control their overheads and expenses. Currently we are extending SHARED at Chapel Street, developing in Papamoa and negotiating offices in Hamilton so there are also opportunities for investors,” says Tony Snow, Founder of Shared Workspaces.

Although it is predominantly a business hub, SHARED is also available to the wider community.

“We are an important part of Tauranga’s business community and we believe in promoting our community’s rich history at SHARED. We want to connect local people so the meetings rooms are also available for community events,” Snow.

Shared Workspaces is delighted to hold their launch party in the Smart Business Centre (soon to be renamed Commercial House) with their invited guests.

Share the past, share the present and create a SHARED future.

Benefits of hiring a professional for all your roof and exterior cleaning needs with Rotorua’s leading business and house washing service, Exterior Washing Services.

NEWS

Having your home regularly cleaned by an experienced pressure washing company will ensure that your roof and home remains in good condition for years to come says Rotorua’s leading business and house washing service, Exterior Washing Services.

Roof cleaning is a delicate job and best suited to a trained expert and hiring a professional roof and exterior cleaning service has many benefits.

Not all cleaning solutions are created equal. A lot of cleaning chemicals are not suitable to clean your roof and exterior surfaces and in the case of moss, lichen and algae, standard grade cleaning products just won’t cut it. “One of our first steps is to evaluate your roof and walls the materials used and provide a cleaning solution that is appropriate and won’t have long-term adverse effects on the roof and exterior surfaces,” comments Exterior Washing Services owner/operator, Johnny Saini.

Have a regular professional roof clean is a lot cheaper than having to replace your roof. Grime, lichen, moss and algae can harm the integrity of your roof. “Once tiles get damaged, the only option is to replace them,” adds Johnny.

Experience counts a lot in many professions, with exterior cleaning being one of them. When you hire an expert in this field, it means that have hands-on experience and understands the different types of materials and the best approach to clean each of them.

Roof cleaning is dangerous work. The mix of working with heights and slippery cleaning chemicals, shouldn’t be taken on by an amateur. By hiring a professional exterior cleaner, they will know how best to approach this. “We have safety clothing, training, techniques and equipment that ensures the safety of both the workers and the house itself,” says Johnny.

Exterior Washing Services provides high-quality commercial or industrial property cleaning at affordable rates across the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty. For a free quote, give Johnny at Exterior Washing Services a call on 021 150 6361.

Squash Nationals Bring End To A Busy Year Despite Pandemic

SQUASH

The New Zealand Squash Nationals are traditionally held in the middle of the winter months and have top 10 ranked Paul Coll and Joelle King adding to their current total of five and eight titles respectively.

But then 2020 hasn’t been a ‘traditional’ year. The nationals which start tomorrow and run until Sunday afternoon at the North Shore Squash Club are on their third dates after postponement twice already.

For women’s top seed, Emma Millar it’s been an eventful year. Even with a significant break in play as a result of Covid-19. The Waikato player, was still very busy. Initially she competed in a couple of PSA Satellite tournaments around the North Island before the pandemic struck. But that was back in February.

She’s also been teaching at St Pius school in Hamilton and has a school production coming up shortly, add in coaching the nationals girls development and district squads, plus having her appendix removed it’s remarkable she’s feeling fit and ready for the nationals tournament.

Twenty-nine-year-old Millar ranked at 112 in the world (career high of 86) is targeting her first title after a player such as King has dominated the event for so long, winning the past three years and five times prior to that.

“It’s going to be an exciting tournament, particularly between myself, Abbie (Palmer) and Lana (Harrision). We are all very even. It’s going to be hard fought,” said Millar who has had a best result of third at the nationals in the past.

“Having Joelle away opens up a lot of opportunity for players like myself. It would be great to have her here, and in some ways it’s a hollow victory, but you just have to take the draw you’re given. In other ways it will still be nice to have a new name on the honours board.”

Just over a week ago Millar won a Satellite tournament at the Panmure Squash Club in Auckland beating former top 100 ranked Harrison on four games in the final and considers it a mixed blessing.

“You have to take the bit of confidence, but it doesn’t mean too much as we are always having close results between the three of us.”

Women’s second seed Palmer is just one spot behind on the world rankings and is a member of the host club. Palmer is seeded to play Harrison in the semis while Millar is seeded to face Waikato’s Sophie Hodges in the semis if things go to plan.

“We’re all familiar with the courts and have played PSA tournaments and other events at the venue. It’s not an unfamiliar club. It will be warm which isn’t normal for nationals. Usually we have nationals in winter and we don’t have these sort of conditions,” said Millar.

In the absence of Coll the men’s top seed is Wellington’s world No.87, Evan Williams who has been a beaten finalist at the tournament twice. Second seed is world No.144 Lwamba Chileshe (Waikato) followed by over a dozen other players in the men’s tournament who have PSA world rankings and are considered contenders for the title.

The tournament starts on Friday 30 October with first round matches from midday and second round from 4pm, including a potential round of 16 clash between national junior champ Elijah Thomas and Joel Arscott, both players are ranked inside the top 250 in the world. Saturday runs from 10am until around 8pm while the women’s final is scheduled for a 2.20pm start on Sunday followed by the men’s final.

Masterton Sheep Milk Producers Growing By the Day.

NEWS

Sheep milk producers Fernglen Farm in the Eastern Wairarapa, who have proudly been supplying the All Blacks since 2019, are looking forward to this weekend’s Wellington Food Show.

The Riversdale-based family owned business – 40km East of Masterton, is managed by youngest son Cameron Ravenwood, and is fast increasing its number of suppliers throughout the North Island.

Both its pasteurised milk and prebiotic flavoured milks are used by the All Blacks for recovery after games and on training camps, and is now available in at least 35 supermarkets and food stores from Wellington to Auckland.

The company has also teamed up with foodbox.co.nz to bring sheep milk to people’s doors, and is aiming to move into the South Island (Christchurch) between December 2020 and early 2021.

In May 2020 Fernglen Farm won the ‘People’s Choice’ award for the favourite food producing business in New Zealand at the Outstanding Food Producer Awards.

“It’s definitely still hard work but we have more room to grow,” Cameron said.

Jeff and Shirley Ravenwood converted their sheep and beef farm specifically for sheep milking five years ago, and now most of the family are involved in day-to-day operations.

Oldest son Ben studied Human Nutrition and Sports Science at Massey University and was now into his Masters, ensuring their products were of the highest nutritional quality.

Cameron has a Bachelor Degree in Agribusiness and Food Marketing and has also completed his Masters in a similar discipline at Lincoln University. He works throughout their integrated supply-chain.

Daughter Baeley has a Degree in Agriculture Science with Honours from Massey University and works for PGG Wrightsons – working closely with the family to ensure they are able to give their ewes top quality feed all year round.

Initially starting with 120 sheep, Fernglen Farm has since expanded to more than 400 milking sheep on their 1100ha farm.

Their flock is a mixture of East Friesian, Awassi, Coopwourth, Lacaune and crosses of the stated breeds.

From Fernglen Farm, the milk is taken to a factory in Masterton twice a week where they add the natural coffee, vanilla and chocolate flavours themselves.

Cameron said sheep milk is an easier to digest for those who have a dairy intolerance.

For some people who suffer from eczema it has been “life changing” drinking sheep milk, he said.

It also contained as a ratio only half the amount of lactose than cow’s milk, and overall it was grass-fed, free of GMO’s, antibiotics and added hormones.

Catch them at the Wellington Food Show this Friday, Saturday and Sunday (October 30, 31, November 1),
