The words ‘affordable housing’ and ‘Auckland’ appearing in the same sentence could be called an oxymoron, a figure of speech in which apparently contradictory terms appear in conjunction. However, thanks to the team at Solution Street over 100 Kiwis have taken their first step onto the property ladder, providing them with newly built, affordable homes in some of Auckland’s fastest growing neighbourhoods.
With the recent house prices increases making it increasingly difficult for first home buyers to find affordable housing in Auckland, the interpretation of what is considered affordable housing is a very subjective view. Under the SHAs affordable housing was defined as no more than 75% of the Auckland median house price.
Many will disagree with what is ‘affordable’, however for the purposes of this article we will define affordable housing as any new build under $650,000. This aligns with the price cap eligibility for KiwiSaver HomeStart grant for new build homes in Auckland. It is also the upper limit for houses proposed under the KiwiBuild housing scheme.
The Solution Street team have been working together for over six years, providing much needed affordable housing to the Auckland market. Their ‘point of interest’ is, rather than being dominated by maximising profits, they are turning the market on its head by providing housing at a fair price that enables them to provide a first home solution to their very happy clients.
Their leading developments have been built in carefully selected established communities, with local schools, shops and public transport options, along with everything else that makes those areas great places to live.
Solution Street helps first home buyers break into the world of home ownership with their ‘tailor made’ home solutions, expert advice and support, and for more information on new builds Auckland and Kiwibuild first home buyers please go to https://www.solutionstreet.co.nz .
